摘要

The pipeline would be about 789 miles long, some 641 miles of which would be across federal lands. The pipeline system would also include pump stations, camp sites for use during construction, air¬fields for use during both construction and operation of the pipeline, a communications system, lateral access roads, and material sites for construction materials. The marine terminal site on Port Valdez would consist of a tank farm, dock, and related facilities from which a fleet of tankers would transport crude oil to destination ports. Prior to construction of the pipeline north of the Yukon River, a road would be built for access and the movement of equipment, materials, and person¬nel during pipeline construction activity. This road, which is proposed to become part of the State of Alaska Highway System, would be about 361 miles in length.
