摘要

A method is developed for stress analysis of saturated soil structures under dynamic or earthquake loading by idealizing soil as a fluid saturated porous medium and allowing the flow of fluid with respect to solid. This permits realistic evaluation of pore pressures and intergranular stresses in earth structures during earthquakes. There have been many limitations in previous studies of the seismic response of earth dams and banks;with the present method pore pressures and intergranular stresses can be directly evaluated for any given earthquake base motion. This is essential for analysis of stability and liquefaction potential of soil structures,liquefaction being important in earthquake failure of earth dams and banks. (Author)
