A suite of programs is being developed to indicate the cheapest alignment of new roads. This Report describes a program PRELUDE that has been developed to check ground data and generate simplified cross-sections of the ground along the road line. This program provides the processed ground data in a form suitable for use with the programs which are used to generate and optimize vertical alignments. (Author)
