The Combined File Search System. Operating Instructions for an Information Storage and Retrieval System.

The programs listed comprise the entire information storage and retrieval system as of June 1, 1968. All programs in this system were written in assembly language to operate under the IBM System/360disk operating system (DOS). This information storage and retrieval system was designed for the following machine configuration: System/360with 64K of core storage and DOS;Console typewriter,card reader,and line printer (132positions);Five magnetic tape drives;Five 2311disk drives;and One 2321data cell drive. This configuration is designed to hold about 500,000documents. A user with about 5,000documents may be able to store his master file on a disk and combine the other three disk files onto another disk pack,thus eliminating the data cell and one disk drive.
