Special Instrumentation for Rehabilitation of Insensitive Limbs.

摘要

The purpose of the project was to develop pressure-sensing equipment for use with leprosy patients to prevent damage to the tissues through excessive pressures. Through a staff of engineers,technicians and research assistants,special instrumentation was developed. The individual primary objectives were determined by the hospital research staff. Significant developments were described in the report. The unrestricted cooperation between engineers and physicians in an effort to solve a biological problem was most rewarding. Some devices described in the report have already found their way into practical use in amputee clinics across the country.
