摘要

Axial speed distributions,absolute densities,and angular profiles of molecular beams extracted from hypersonic argon free jets were measured. Novel aspects include use of cryogenic pre-skimmers and an oscillographic matching of experimental and numerically-generated time-of-flight (TOF) curves. Results refuted previous observations of an indefinite improvement in skimming efficiency with increasing skimmer Knudsen number. A residue of parasitic effects precluded the definitive determination of jet parameters. Effects of post-skimmer collisions upon TOF data were noticed. (Author)
