Vegetation Natural Areas of the Hemlock-White Pine-Northern Hardwood Region of the Eastern Deciduous Forest

The report consists of three sections: (1) a brief description of natural areas; their purpose, definition and evaluation; (2) a brief discussion of the vegetation of the region and the classification of vegetation types used; (3) the inventory proper, arranged by states, and including introductory material on each state; vegetation map, location maps, etc. Sites are described in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin. Each site inventoried includes its characterization, acreage, elevation, ownership, land use, data source, description, location and priority.
