Lifting/Moving of Bulk Materials

摘要

Guidelines concerning the lifting and moving of bulk materials are reviewed. Handling methods and standards for the use of both powered and manual moving equipment are discussed. Research on ergonomic models and safe lifting loads is described. Factors involved in standards development also are considered including work conditions, injury classifications, physical characteristics of material, type of operation, and worker characteristics. The author notes that injuries associated with the handling of bulk materials seem to be small in number, however additional research is needed on safe handling practices.
