Earthquake Response of Building-Foundation Systems.

摘要

The investigation on the dynamics of soil-structure interaction was divided into two parts for convenience of analysis and presentation. In Chapter I,the forced horizontal,rocking and vertical harmonic oscillations of a rigid disc perfectly bonded to an elastic half-space were studied. The effect of a deformable foundation on the response of a building to earthquake excitation was studied in Chapter II. The base of the building was idealized as a rigid circular plate attached to the surface of the ground,and the soil was modeled by a homogeneous,isotropic,elastic half-space. Using the force-deflection relations for the base derived in Chapter I,the equations of motion of an n-story building-foundation system were solved by both direct and transform methods. For the special case of a single-story building on a flexible foundation,approximate explicit formulas were obtained for the effective natural frequency,critical damping ratio,and the amplitude of the modified excitation in terms of the dimensionless parameters which govern the behavior of the system.
