The proceedings of a conference on the use of low back X-rays in preemployment examinations are presented. The workshop was held from January 11 to 14, 1973 in Tucson, Arizona. Contributed papers cover the following topics: the anatomy of the back; pathophysiology of the lower spine; orthopedic considerations; neuropsychiatric aspects of lower spinal injuries; radiation safety; human engineering; epidemiological factors; industrial back injuries; and neurosurgical and radiological aspects of lower back injuries.
