A method of recording axle load sequences and groupings

Equipment has been designed for the automatic collection of data on axle load sequences and groupings. A dynamic weighbridge and a vehicle detector are set in a traffic lane of a road open to normal traffic. The axle load signals are com¬bined in sequence with the detector signal and both recorded on a digital recorder The recording is analysed by a computer to provide the information required from the sequence of loads.nSome examples are given of the use of the data in studies of highway bridge loadings.
