A major effort of this research was to develop new techniques and methods so that specific components of high purity and yield could be obtained by fractionation of blood at minimum cost for large scale application. Efforts were concentrated on a method for the frozen preservation of red blood cells and platelets,the isolation of concentrates of Factor VIII, prothrombin complex and alpha-2.
