Chemical and Physical Characterization of Automotive Exhaust Particulate Matter in the Atmosphere.

The effort described has been directed to the design,development,and evaluation of apparatus and test procedures that will be used for detailed studies of chemical and physical characteristics of automobile exhaust particles. The report presents,in the first of two major sections,descriptions of apparatus and procedures that have been assembled and developed for use in the experimental studies. In the second major section,the experimental results observed during these developments are described. (Author)
