摘要

Two measuring procedures for evaluating the cavitation nucleus distribution in water,the scattered light method and the Coulter counter,are directly compared by testing equal water samples with both methods. To clarify whether these techniques can give satisfactory information on the nucleus spectrum,although they cannot distinguish between particles and bubbles, a series of tests were carried through with different water samples of known qualities concerning the nucleus content. The results indicate that the optical method is feasible for measuring the nucleus spectrum of any water sample. The applicability of the Coulter counter for recording the nucleus spectrum of water is limited,because water contains particles of a wide range of electrical resistivity. (Author)
