Algae Control in Water Supply Reservoirs.

摘要

Various methods for controlling algae in water supply reservoirs were compared with the method using copper sulfate. These alternative methods were:nutrient control,biological control,water intake location,destratification,light exclusion,sound and alternative algicides. The study resulted from the fact that with continued use of copper sulfate as an algicide,the current illinois water quality standard for copper of 0.02mg/l will in many cases be exceeded. It was concluded,however,that a generally applicable method that is more desirable from an environmental point of view than use of copper sulfate has not been found.
