Combined Forced and Free Laminar Convection in Horizontal Tubes.

摘要

The report describes an experimental study of the effects of property variations,particularly density and viscosity,on fully-developed laminar flow heat transfer and pressure drop in horizontal tubes. Electrically heated glass and stainless-steel tubes were used with water and ethylene glycol. The heat transfer data were correlated by expressing the Nusselt number as a function of Grashof number,Prandtl number,and a dimensionless parameter representing the conductance of the tube wall. The correlation agrees well with data of previous investigations. A correlation is also provided for the friction factor as a function of Reynolds number and Grashof number.
