摘要

Saw stability theories predict conditions of stability when the saw is plane and cuts straight and conditions on instability when the saw is no longer plane and no longer produces accurate cuts. The critical speed and divergence buckling theories have been proposed on a theoretical and experimental research basis, but they have never been verified in practice. The present report discusses these theories and presents results of a detailed experimental investigation of their application to the prediction of cutting accracy in a production process. The conclusion of this study is that the critical speed theory has direct application to prediction of cutting accuracy in circular saws which is of importance to both optimal design and optimal operation of circular saws.
