Helix Pressure Gauge to Indicate Roof Bolt Loads.

摘要

The report presents the results of a study to design,construct,and test a low-cost pressure gage to be used to monitor the change in load on individual roof bolts. The purpose of the gage is to offer a convenient means of estimating the stability of potential roof fall areas on the premise that the load on individual roof bolts changes prior to failure. The report describes the theory of operation of the gage,the construction methods used to fabricate the gage,and the results of field tests of the gage,which indicate that the gage is reliable and can be used to determine the changing load conditions on roof bolts. The report will be of interest to mine operators who wish to use a low-cost method of monitoring the load on roof bolts in suspect areas of their workings.
