Escape Potentials from Apartments Protected by Fire Detectors in Highrise Buildings.

A program was undertaken comprising two objectives: (1) To examine experimentally the early-warning performance of currently available fire detectors intended for residential use,with emphasis on conditions representative of a high-rise apartment area;and (2) to develop a method whereby untested detectors subsequently can be assessed by simple and inexpensive laboratory techniques.
