Emission Laboratory Correlation Study Between EPA and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc

This report presents the results of an extensive correlation study between EPA and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. (JAMA). It specifically compares the test facilities of Nissan and Toyota to EPA's Ann Arbor Laboratory. No significant differences were discovered between the Toyota and EPA laboratories. Emission levels produced by vehicles tested at both laboratories were very similar. Significant differences in emission levels of vehicles tested at both Nissan and EPA laboratories were experienced. Vehicle variability appeared to be a major cause of the discrepancies.
