Development of the Envelope Kidney (The Coiled Envelope).

摘要

The concept of a disposable sterile insert for self construction of a coil dialyzer was carried out along with in vivo animal and clinical dialyses. Clinical studies show the efficacy of the device and indicate advantages in its design,particularly in the blood manifold and manifold to membrane attachment. It is estimated that the disposable insert could be made available for patient use at a cost of about one-half that of commercial coils. The amount of plastics used per dialysis is considerably reduced and the blood fluid path can be certified sterile and pyrogen free for each dialysis,unlike standard reuse procedures designed to reduce cost.
