摘要

This report is a review and field observation study of coal surface mining and reclamation problems,policies,and practices in the Midwest coal producing region. A wide variety of subjects is covered including:problems associated with surface mining;reclamation technology and costs;environmental assessments of surface mined land;reclamation planning and policy;and a review of state reclamation laws and enforcement procedures.
