Open Channels to the People....Some Basics in Public Communications

摘要

Concerned with public communication, the report is aimed at making information more acceptable and understandable for those to whom it is sent, and to elicit action toward desired ends. Based on the assumption that government and private institutions want to augment their contact with the people beyond standard press coverage, the report is designed to be useful to local government personnel and those in other institutions. It contains: a discussion of publics and a checklist of those usually living and working in communities; a comprehensive rundown of methods of communication, including a checklist of widely varied ways for conveying information to the general community and to specific publics; an explanation of several language factors stressing the need for readability to assure better understanding of the information which is distributed.
