摘要

The objectives of this investigation were to construct a steady-state catalytic microreactor and to conduct a brief study of the hydrocracking of phenanthrene. Chromia-Alumina was the selected catalyst because of its demonstrated ability to catalyze free radical reactions. The range of conditions investigated were -Temperature; 800-1000F,Pressure: 2000-3000psig,and Space Velocity: 0.5-6.0gm/hr/gm. The reaction products were analyzed by gas chromatography. Three major hydrogenation reaction paths were identified. One is of interest from a practical standpoint since it provides a means of hydrocracking condensed multiring aromatics to low molecular weight species while consuming a minimum amount of hydrogen.
