This report provides the effects of salinity on crop germination, development and yield, nutrient, water, carbohydrate, protein, fat and hormone metabolisms, relative tolerance of crop species/varieties, and also their tolerance at different growth stages have been discussed. Stress has been given on the discussion of different methods employed by the scientists world over for inducing salt tolerance in crops, and the methods to avoid the hazardous effect of salinity, which have direct field applicability.
