A Simulation of an Elevator System For a Moderate Height Building

This report describes the simulation of an elevator system. The simulation allows various control strategies to be tested to determine their effect on the quality of service provided. This work has been pursued as part of a multifaceted research project aimed at defining the control strategies to be employed for various combinations of demand level and distribution, building height, and elevator system characteristics.nIn addition to the simulation, work is proceeding on the development of mathematical model of elevator systems operating under various control strategies. Observations of actual system are being made to check the accuracy of the simulation and theoretical models.nThe results of the study will be useful in indicating operating rule changes to improve exist¬ing system service and to specify new system design requirements.
