A Study of the Dynamic Mechanisms Involved in Solvent Extraction Systems

The evidence presented in this study shows that the rate of extraction of the tetrachlorocupric ion by quaternary amines in an organic phase is controlled by mass transport at low stirring velocities. At highest stirring velocities the extraction rate is controlled by the rate of the interfacial chemical reaction. An understanding of the mechanism involved in the solvent extraction and recovery of metal ions should permit better design and operation of solvent extraction equipment.
