摘要

A large mathematical model of blood biochemistry (THERMO) has been used successfully to simulate the blood chemistry of patients using clinical data. Because this model is complicated to use and expensive, a method has been sought to abstract and simplify the concepts of the larger model. This report describes a method for predicting the behavior of the larger mathematical model of blood biochemistry. The prediction appears to be approximately correct. Using four input patient measurements (i.e.,serum sodium,potassium,chloride,and bicarbonate) the small model predicts four key model parameters. An attempt is then made to interpret the four key parameters in terms of clinically useful physiological states. The present work is considered to be a feasibility study for a subsequent more fundamental analysis.
