Studies on in vitro Cultivation of Treponema pallidum.

摘要

The primary purpose of this contract is the in vitro cultivation of virulent Treponema pallidum. A secondary objective is the biochemical characterization of the DNA of T. pallidum. The following studies are reported: (1) an investigation of the optimum conditions for sustaining viability of T. pallidum over a maximum period of time, (2) tissue culture studies of rabbit testis with the primary aim of developing a growth and maintenance medium that is also optimum for survival of treponemes, (3) an electron microscopic study of T. pallidum,and (4) preliminary biochemical studies.
