摘要

This report summarizes the national needs,current capabilities and engineering research requirements for the offshore petroleum industry,the offshore mining industry,artificial islands and platforms. It also examines the perspective of technology for deepwater ports in the USA,the national needs and capabilities in ocean energy systems,and the potential and limitations of the marine disposal of waste material. National security needs are also reviewed.
