摘要

Cd and Hg ions are highly toxic. Surfactants having specific chelative ability for these ions have been made and used to remove Cd and Hg ions in 10 - 1000ppm concentrations,nearly quantitatively,even in presence of large concentrations of Ca,Mg and Na salts. Factors such as pH,rate of gas flow and surfactant concentration were studied. Surfactants were regenerated and recycled by precipitating CdS and HgS. Details of experimental work and results of this investigation are summarized. Two papers have been incorporated into this final report: (1) Removal of Trace Amounts of Cadmium Ion from Aqueous Solution by Foam Separation Using Chelating Surfactants, (2) Foam Separation of Mercury Ion with Chelating Surfactant;the Selectivity of the Removal of Cadmium and Mercury Ions with 4-Dodecyl-diethylenetriamine.
