摘要

Approximately twenty-five papers were presented by recognized experts to cover the important aspects of the general topic. These papers were arranged into five sessions;namely, (1) introductory presentations, (2) system requirements, (3) MHD generators, (4) preheaters,and (5) combustor,heat recovery,and seed recovery components. Significant advances in MHD materials technology and an improving understanding of critical design and economic problems in MHD systems and components were evident from the workshop. However,it was also revealed that significant gaps in communication and understanding exist between designers and materials engineers,especially in assessing the current state of the art and future development requirements for MHD generators. Erosion-corrosion mechanisms for high-temperature refractories in slag/seed environments,the high-temperature inelastic behavior of metallic components under cyclic operation,the hot corrosion behavior of boiler tubes,and uncertainties in thermal-physical and physical-chemical data for slag-seed compounds were among the problem areas cited for further attention.
