摘要

The report describes a field evaluation of the Bureau of Mines zinc-based soldering system for copper and copper alloys. The soldering system uses a sacrificial nickel plating to promote spontaneous wetting of copper and copper alloys. Radiator capsules soldered with zinc-based solder and exposed to a simulated radiator life cycle functioned to 1,000hours without failure while those employing the 70Pb-30Sn solder alloy normally used by radiator manufacturers failed after 250hours.
