Development and Validation of Career Development Guidelines by Task/Activity Analysis of Occupational Safety and Health Professions: Industrial Hygiene and Safety Professional. Technical Report 12

摘要

Career development guidelines for industrial hygiene and safety professionals were developed and validated. A task/activity analysis survey form was used to collect data on educational requirements for specific job task/activities from 30 expert practitioners and a randomly selected group of 848 individuals actively employed as industrial hygienists or safety professionals. The specific job categories of interest were technician, trainee, professional, and administrator. Supplementary information was obtained from published literature, job descriptions from state and local governments, and industry. The data was analyzed to develop behavioral objectives. The tasks/activities and behavioral objects were assigned to academic levels: Associate, Baccalaureate, or Graduate. Prerequisite knowledge for each job/activity was determined. Courses were then developed which were composed of groups of related tasks/activities and behavioral objectives. Curricula based on the courses were then developed.
