Cryptanalysis of the NBS Data Encryption Standard.

摘要

To meet the growing non-military needs for cryptographic protection of data and cryptographic-based authentication systems,the National Bureau of Standards has proposed a data encryption algorithm. The purposes of the standard are to ensure a high level of protection and to foster compatibility among users. This paper demonstrates that the proposed standard is deficient on both grounds and that the deficiency can probably be corrected by increasing the key size from its current 56bits to 128or 256bits. The cost of such a change is shown to be minimal.
