摘要

A portable speech training aid is described. A computer performs a linear prediction areas analysis of the subject's speech and provides a vocal tract areas display of his attempt, which he can compare with a display for the correctly produced sound. The use of the aid for sustained sound training is described and the methodology for its assessment in classroom conditions outlined. Preliminary results on a sample of nine children are reported. The development of two methods for the training of continuous speech is described: one uses areagraph displays, the other a principal components display.
