Methods for the Production of Interferon in Cultures of Human Diploid Cells.

摘要

Interferon production was studied in the high-producing FS-4strain of human diploid foreskin fibroblasts,previously derived and characterized in the laboratory. Further improvement in the methodology of interferon production in this cell strain has been achieved. The method employing poly I:poly C as the interferon inducer,coupled with superinduction with cycloheximide and actinomycin D,is now available for the production of moderate quantities of human interferon for clinical trials. Despite this progress,interferon production remains costly and new approaches are needed to make the preparation of interferon more economical.
