Standards Support and Environmental Impact Statement. Volume 1:Proposed Standards of Performance for Lime Manufacturing Plants.

Standards of performance for the control of particulate matter emissions from affected facilities at new and modified lime manufacturing plants are being proposed under the authority of sections 111, 114,and 301(a) of the Clean Air Act,as amended. The standards would require that particulate matter emissions be reduced by over 99percent below the uncontrolled levels,and by about 70percent below the emission levels being achieved by existing sources controlled to meet typical state standards. Volume 1discusses the proposed standards,and an analysis of the associated environmental and economic impacts is included in this document. Volume 2,which will be published when the standards are promulgated,will contain a summary of the public comments on the proposed standards and EPA's responses. A discussion of any differences between the proposed and promulgated standards will also be included.
