An earlier report (FCC/OPP PRPG 77-01,PB 266 115) described the conceptual development of the forecasting model and the design of questionnaires and survey sampling procedures for examining user satisfaction and demand for personal radio services. This report focuses on the implementation of the survey,the analysis of survey data underlying model development,and the forecasting results derived from simulating several alternative scenarios for future personal radio service configurations. The study consisted of two main components:Personal interviews with non-users of CB radios, 16and older;and telephone interviews with past and present users of CB radios, 16and older. A total sample consisted of 1,304persons, 630present users of CB radio, 124past users,and 550 nonusers. Response to the study questions provided the basis of a computerized forecast of user demand and satisfaction over a ten year period,assuming no change in the present CB configuration at 27MHz,and an assessment of future demand and satisfaction with simulated alternative configurations over the same period.
