Augmentation of Peritoneal Dialysis Efficiency with Programmed Hyper-Hypoosmotic Dialysates.

摘要

The purpose of the research is to show the feasibility of significantly augmenting the efficiency of peritoneal dialysis using programmed osmotic gradients between blood and peritoneal dialysate. The unique feature of this proposal is that the osmolality of the dialysate will be alternated hypoosmotic and hyperosmotic. Thus,the fluid lost during hyperosmotic dialysis will be replaced during hypoosmotic dialysis. The patient can assume a maintenance dialysis program,benefit from efficient hyperosmotic dialysis without risk of dehydration,discomfort from intravenous fluid administration or excessive oral consumption of fluids.
