Potential for Increasing Production of Natural Gas from Existing Fields in the Near Term

The charge to the authors of this report was to select for detailed study five to seven fields with high potential for increasing production of natural gas and to identify the opportunities for and impediments to accelerating deliveries from these fields. Six fields were selected and studied with the expectation that they had high potential for increasing production: Tiger Shoal, East Cameron Block 64, Euguene Island Block 266, Vermilion Block 14, South Marsh Island Block 48, and East Cameron Block 271. The present report summarizes the detailed studies of the six specific fields, discusses important issues raised in the analyses, and draws some general conclusions about accelerating gas production from existing fields in the near term.
