This publication is divided into three parts, each written by a different author. Part I by Alan Gartner, Ph.D., discusses several concerns of the self-help movement. Part II by Bert Pepper, M.D., discusses self-help from the viewpoint of meeting needs of emotionally disturbed people. Part III by Richard Stander, M.S. discusses the need for cooperation between traditional health-care providers and self-help, while recognizing the limitations of each.
