Archaeological Test Excavations at Lake Tewaukon (32SA211): A Protohistoric Occupation Site in Southeastern North Dakota

Archeological excavations were conducted in 1975 at site 32SA211 on a peninsula of Lake Tewaukon, Tewaukon National Wildlife Refuge, Sargent County, North Dakota. Protohistoric or Late Prehistoric occupation is suggested with a subsistence strategy focusing on hunting and gathering. It is postulated that the site was occupied by a Dakota group participating in a wide-ranging trade network.
