Diverse areas of application of laser technology to chemistry are discussed in this workshop report. These include:Energy transfer of all types resulting from excitation;Materials for solar energy conversion;High-temperature combustion;Homogeneous catalysis;Fabrication,recycling,and disposal of nuclear fuels;and New synthetic routes for pharmauceuticals and isotopes. Specific problem areas which would be significantly affected by laser-related chemical advances which are discussed include enrichment of light isotopes for reactor construction materials,processing nuclear wastes,increasing,energy efficiency of chemical industry,and analytical techniques for monitoring combustion processes.
