Microbial Mutagenesis of Substances; Compound Report: F76-014, Stannous chloride dihydrate

SRI International examined an FDA compound identified as F76-014. The compound was tested in the Ames Salmonella/microsome assay for induction of reverse mutation in Salmonella typhimurium strains TA1535, TA1537, TA1538, TA98, and TA100, and in Escherichia coli WP2 (uvrA). Each assay was performed in the presence and in the absence of a rat liver homogenate metabolic activation system. Toxicity was observed with S. typhimurium and E. coli at doses of 10 mg/plate both with and without metabolic activation. Compound F76-014 did not appear to be mutagenic in these assays.
