摘要

This is a report of a symposium which was designed to explore, in depth, the food-production resources that are available in the United States, to take into account our energy shortfall and increasing demand for food, and to present factual information on the specific roles of plant and animal products in supplying this demand for food. The papers discuss the present and future demand for plant and animal products, consumer acceptance and trends, the nutritional requirements of the human population, and how the associative nature of these products is meeting these demands.
