Safety guidelines are presented for masonry, stonework, tilesetting, insulation, and plastering contractors. General injury and illness rates for these trades are discussed, along with the special hazards associated with each industry. Health and safety programs, employee training procedures, and occupational health and environmental control are described, together with general safety guidelines. Common violations are discussed, including improper use of equipment and machinery, inadequate personal protection equipment, and poor materials handling, use, storage, and disposal. Record keeping requirements established by OSHA are given, and a checklist is included for safe operating and protection procedures. A safe lifting guide also is included.
