摘要

This volume, one of three appendices to a survey of property insurance use in four cities, presents extensive tables showing residential occupants' survey responses in each city on types and uses of insurance. The study's goal was to determine the availability and affordability of essential property insurance coverage under Fair Access to Insurance Requirements (FAIR plans) and through the residual risk market. The purpose was to aid Congress in deciding whether to amend the Urban Property Protection and Reinsurance Act of 1968. Cities surveyed were New York, Miami, Detroit, and Los Angeles. Types of insurance studied were homeowners, fire, theft, and liability. Sources of insurance included the voluntary market, surplus lines, FAIR plans, and Federal crime insurance, as well as combinations of these sources. A total of 47.5 percent of residential occupants surveyed had no property insurance of any kind. Statistics cover types and sources of insurance, reasons for not having insurance, insurance cancellation and refusal rates, claims filed, sources and levels of information about insurance, respondents' economic profiles and other respondent characteristics, and related information.
