Survey of Practice in Determining Magnitudes of Near Earthquakes. Part 1: North, Central, and South America

The report is part of a plan to make data-related information conveniently available to the scientific community; in this case we are presenting the practices used by various groups in determining the magnitudes for near earthquakes. This information has been compiled under the auspices of the IUGG/IASPEI (International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics/International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth's Interior) Commission on Practice and is being reprinted by WDC-A for Solid Earth Geophysics as one of its data services. Part 1 covers North, Central, and South America.
