Improving the Effectiveness and the Breadth of the Governor's Scientific, Technical, and Engineering Organizations in Pennsylvania

The recommendations in the report provide a suggested focus on several aspects of state policy related to science and technology. The importance and possible ways of attracting high technology industries to Pennsylvania are described. Methods whereby the state can influence the direction of Federal research and development priorities are discussed as are the state's participation in various regional groups and commissions. Measures to acquaint the incoming administration about scientific issues are offered together with suggestions for improved liaison between the Governor and the state's scientific agencies. An appendix outlines Pennsylvania's scientific programs.
